A memorial, erected on the main stand of Valley Parade, to the victims of the fire.

Greetings ~

Fifty Six people got up on the morning of May 11, 1985 in England and showered, dressed and had their breakfast. They were going to a football game at the Bradford Stadium that day. They were excited and couldn't wait to get their seats in the stands and watch the game, plus they were all set to root for their team. These 56-souls had no idea that they would never come home. It was a ballgame. That's all. They weren't going to war or doing anything dangerous. It was a ballgame, that's all. But most would die a horrible death on that day locked in flames and heavy smoke.
The Bradford Stadium fire is still the deadliest event at an English football game. Like we've heard so many times before, when the fire broke out, exit doors were blocked or locked. And there were heroes who saved many. But the death toll would still be high and the severe injuries even higher. And it all could have been avoided.
This blog is dedicated to those who lost their lives that day. Those who left their homes that morning simply to go to a ballgame never knowing that they would never come home. After all, it was only a ballgame.
